Job description

The Estates Maintenance Multi‑Skilled Technician is a key member of the Estates Maintenance Department at The Hillingdon Hospital site, responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all engineering, building, and utility systems that support the delivery of patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of engineering, building, and utility systems that support patient care.
  • Perform reactive and planned preventive maintenance (PPM) across mechanical, electrical, and building‑fabric disciplines, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs), JSP 375, and Trust policies.
  • Diagnose, repair, and resolve faults quickly and safely across heating, domestic hot and cold water, electrical distribution, pressure systems, steam boilers, and condensate return systems.
  • Carry out planned inspection, servicing, and compliance testing to maintain operational resilience and statutory compliance.
  • Operate and monitor the Building Management System (BMS) – such as Trend – to observe plant performance, adjust control parameters within agreed limits, and respond to system alarms supporting energy efficiency and environmental control.
  • Act as a Competent Person (CP) under relevant engineering disciplines and work within the Trust’s Permit‑to‑Work and Authorisation frameworks.
  • Participate in the Estates On‑Call Rota, providing out‑of‑hours technical support and attending the site when required.
