We are seeking an experienced and visionary EPR Portfolio Lead to drive the design, development and delivery of our new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system across the Group.

Reporting directly to the Group EPR Programme Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of digital healthcare by ensuring our EPR aligns with business needs, bridges the gap between technical and non‑technical stakeholders and supports integrated care initiatives across the Integrated Care System.

Main duties of the job

This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on patient care and digital innovation. You will be at the forefront of a programme that will transform how we deliver healthcare services, improve data integration and enhance patient outcomes across the region.

You will:

  • Provide technical leadership, strategic direction and mentoring to the programme community.
  • Develop detailed EPR road‑maps and strategies for systems development, integration and data sharing across the Integrated Care System.
  • Oversee the design, implementation and management of the overarching EPR plan, ensuring successful delivery of this critical programme.
  • Work closely with Programme Managers, Clinical and Operational teams, Finance, Communications and external suppliers to ensure seamless execution.
  • Provide line management for key EPR resources and matrix leadership across the Group.

Education & Qualifications (Essential)
  • Master's degree or equivalent professional qualification or equivalent experience
  • Formal technical training – e.g. MCP, MCSE or equivalent experience

  • Membership in BCS
  • Recognised Leadership / Management Development Programme
  • Membership in other recognised digital networks
Knowledge, Training & Experience (Essential)
  • Demonstrable high level of technical skills in subject matter area
  • Demonstrable hands‑on experience designing, managing and troubleshooting complex Systems & Integration Development platforms
  • Experience of commissioning a robust and efficient Systems and Integration Development e‑environment in a large complex enterprise
  • Experience of providing a secure, stable and supportable systems development and integration
  • Evidence of strong business case development and a proven track record of successful organisation‑wide delivery in complex environments
Desirable
  • Senior management experience working in the NHS
  • Experience of systems convergence consolidation through mergers and or acquisitions
  • Previous development and integration team management experience

  • Extensive knowledge and demonstrable success in managing SLA's and KPI's in a large, complex and diverse Enterprise
  • A proven track record of 7‑10 years of experience in the design and delivery of complex systems and integration
  • In‑depth knowledge of operational and procedural requirements for systems development and integration
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels, particularly in explaining digital or technical issues to non‑technical people
