Job description

We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Band 7 Epilepsy Nurse Specialist. The successful candidate will lead/manage the Epilepsy team as a specialist resource for patents, general practitioners, nursing colleagues and other health care professionals. They would be responsible to lead and develop the team to meet the requirements of the Epilepsy service.

The post holder will be responsible for providing specialist evidence based input to epilepsy patient group, carer’s and other health care professionals, you would be responsible for providing a nurse led service to the population of Greater Glasgow and Clyde. The post holder would work collaboratively with clinical colleagues to lead the development of services within epilepsy care, providing specialist education and training to others, providing supervision and assessment for Epilepsy Service.

The post holder would be responsible for case management of adult patients offering support/ expertise/knowledge if required within LD service. The post holder will provide comprehensive assessment using experience and knowledge to discuss management options, assess and evaluate patients, actively managing patients and carer’s involvement with regard to the condition, promoting empowerment of the patient, ensuring that this is in line with nationally agreed practice and monitor and develop written protocols to guide staff in the care of the patient with seizures and epilepsy.

The ability and skills to clinical assess and have medical prescribing is beneficial and advantageous to this senior clinical nurse specialist role.

Hours would be Mon- Fri holding a caseload of patients.
