The Role and Key Responsibilities

Working under the direction of the Head of English, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Curriculum Delivery: Planning and delivering engaging lessons that foster a deep love of literature and language.
  • Student Progress: Monitoring and tracking pupil attainment, providing constructive feedback that drives measurable academic progress.
  • Classroom Culture: Maintaining an orderly, stimulating learning environment that promotes high standards of behaviour and literacy across the curriculum.
  • Pastoral Care: Contributing positively to student well-being, fulfilling Form Tutor duties and adhering strictly to safeguarding policies.
  • Department Contribution: Actively collaborating on curriculum development and contributing to the wider school enrichment programme.
Essential Requirements

The successful candidate must have:

  • The necessary qualifications for this role (QTS or equivalent).

  • Experience teaching English to a high standard.

  • An enhanced DBS certificate on the update service or a willingness to apply for one.

  • The legal right to work in the UK.
