Location : Coventry, West Midlands

Salary : paid to scale (M1-M6)

About the Role

Simply Education are currently working in partnership with an Ofsted rated good secondary school in the Coventry area. They are looking for a creative and dynamic English teacher to work collaboratively within their exciting English department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver a designated teaching programme in line with subject specialism.
  • Teach students according to their educational needs, including setting and marking work.
  • Assess, record, and report on student attendance, progress, development, and attainment.
  • Provide oral and written assessments, reports, and references for individuals and groups.
  • Ensure a high-quality learning experience that meets internal and external standards.
  • Assist in developing syllabi, resources, schemes of work, and teaching strategies.
  • Use varied teaching methods to meet student needs and curriculum demands.
  • Maintain discipline and encourage high standards of behaviour, punctuality, and homework.
  • Undertake assessments as required by examination bodies and school procedures.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback through marking and grading.
  • Implement school policies on behaviour, anti-bullying, and attendance.
  • Work closely with parents and students, valuing family contributions.
  • Address Child Protection concerns swiftly and in line with policy.
Communication

Communicate regularly and effectively with staff to support academic and personal

Maintain effective communication with parents as appropriate.

School Ethos and Community

Engage parents and students in understanding the school's aims, policies, and direction.

Foster a respectful culture among students and care for the school environment.

Implement strategies developed with external consultants and monitor their impact.

Supporting the Work of Creative Education Trust

Build strong relationships with Creative Education Trust colleagues.

Participate in trust-wide initiatives and projects

Collaborate with internal and external partners to share best practices and contribute to trust.

Represent the school and Trust in wider educational contexts.

Key Skills & Qualities
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Strong subject knowledge in English and a passion for literacy and literature.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptability to meet a wide range of student needs.
  • Effective behaviour and classroom management techniques.
  • Empathy and patience, especially when working with students requiring additional support.
Essential Requirements
  • QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching English in line with the national curriculum.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
Desirable
  • Experience with SEN students.
  • Commitment to inclusive education.
