We are looking to appoint an inspirational English Lead Practitioner to join a high-achieving school and play a key role in raising standards of teaching and learning across the English department. This is an excellent opportunity for an outstanding classroom practitioner with leadership potential to make a significant impact on student outcomes and whole-school improvement. Beginning January 2026.

Duties as English Lead Practitioner:

• Deliver outstanding English lessons across KS3–KS5, acting as a role model for high-quality teaching.

• Support the professional development of colleagues through coaching, mentoring, and collaborative planning.

• Lead on curriculum innovation, ensuring schemes of work are engaging, challenging, and accessible to all learners.

• Monitor, track and evaluate the impact of teaching and learning strategies within the department.

• Share and model best practice across the school to improve pedagogy and raise attainment.

• Contribute to the wider life of the school, including enrichment activities and literacy initiatives.

Ideal English Lead Practitioner:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a degree in English (or a closely related subject).

• Proven track record of excellent classroom practice and strong pupil outcomes.

• Experience of leading initiatives to raise standards of teaching and learning.

• Strong communication, coaching, and mentoring skills.

• A passion for inspiring both students and colleagues.

• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
