Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy multi-disciplinary civil engineering team, managing coastal flood and erosion risk on the south coast.

Are you interested in mapping, surveying, or working with data in the real world—not just behind a desk? Do you want to help protect our coastlines, communities, and environment? Then this could be the role for you!

At Coastal Partners, we work on projects that protect over 246 km of coastline from flooding and erosion. We're a team of engineers, scientists, and surveyors who care about building a safer, more sustainable future—and we’re looking for a Geospatial-focused Engineering Technician to join us.

Working within the Site Services Team, you’ll:
  • Work outdoors along the southern coast collecting data on our local beaches, sea defences, and coastal features
  • Use tools like total stations, GNSS, drones, laser scanners, and other survey equipment to take accurate measurements
  • Help create maps, 3D models, and drawings using AutoCAD and a variety of survey processing software
  • Undertake the role of an NEC Site Supervisor to support the supervision of our construction sites when required
  • Support all areas of wider team projects as and when required

You’ll be part of a team who will train and support you as you grow in your role.

Who we’re looking for

You might be just finishing college, an apprenticeship, or already working in a technical role and ready for a new challenge.

You should have:
  • A HNC or related qualification in Surveying, Engineering, Construction, Geography, or similar relevant qualification
  • A real interest in maps, geography, surveying, or coastal environments
  • Some basic understanding of AutoCAD, GIS, or digital mapping (we’ll train you further)
  • Good attention to detail, a practical mindset, and a willingness to work outdoors in all seasons
  • A full UK driving licence or working towards one (fieldwork is a big part of the role)
What we can offer you

A competitive salary/benefits and support for your continuous professional development.

  • Grade D-F £27,254 to £37,280 per annum. This is a career graded post, with your salary based on your experience and qualifications.
  • Generous Leave Allowance
  • Free Parking
  • Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Flexible Working/Hybrid working
  • Family Friendly
