Job description
Overview

We are looking for a full-time/permanent Band 5 nurse to join our friendly team in the Endoscopy unit. You will be trained in the admission, assisting with procedure, recovery and discharge for patients having endoscopic procedures such as OGD, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, ERCP and EUS. You will gain skills in cannulation, recovering patients from GA and sedation, giving post-procedure advice and knowledge of different endoscopic procedures carried out in the department. Providing excellent nursing care on a regular basis. Taking charge and actively participating in and contributing to the management of the ward or department. Supervising and mentoring junior staff. Participating in the decontamination, traceability and maintenance of endoscopes and other specialised equipment used in endoscopic and non-endoscopic procedures and providing technical assistance during such procedures.

Main duties of the job

St. George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Endoscopy Unit is one of the three National Endoscopy Training Centres and houses the SW London Bowel Cancer Screening Centre. The unit comprises six procedure rooms and provides facilities for both in-patient and out-patient investigations. It offers a wide range of endoscopy diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The team is staffed by experienced endoscopy nurses who work in close collaboration with gastroenterologists and hepatologists. All staff are committed to delivering the highest standard of clinical care. The unit provides a range of educational and training programmes in endoscopy, available to both medical and nursing staff accredited with JAG and the National Endoscopy Training programme.
