Job summary

A well-established organization in the education sector is seeking a qualified lawyer with expertise in employment law. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) and will provide legal advice directly to HR and leadership on employment matters. This hybrid role requires 1-2 days in the Central London office weekly. Applications from outside the UK are welcome, but candidates must have the right to work in the UK without sponsorship.

About Our Client

This position is with a well-established organisation within the Education Sector, head-quartered in London, UK.

Job Description

You will be involved in the following Employment law related matters :

  • providing expert legal advice to the HR function and the leadership on employment law matters contracts, policies, disciplinary actions, grievances, redundancies, and restructures
  • acting as the primary point of contact for HR and leadership on employee relations issues
  • ensuring compliance with evolving employment legislation and workplace regulations.
  • handling employment tribunal claims, negotiate settlements, and liaising with external counsel when necessary
  • drafting and reviewing employment contracts, handbooks, and workplace policies.
  • identifying potential legal risks in workforce decisions and proposing mitigation strategies.
You may also take on work in these other areas of law :
  • drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, including in relation to government tenders
  • providing employment law support on acquisitions, mergers, disposals and investments
  • providing comprehensive, practical and appropriate legal advice on disputes and enforcement, including drafting correspondence in relation to legal claims and settlement agreements.
  • drafting and keeping specific policies and process documents up to date.
The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will be a Lawyer, qualified in the UK or another Common Law Jurisdiction with previous experience of working in a law firm or in-house legal department working in employment law. They will have :

  • demonstrable post qualification experience (anticipated to be a minimum of 3 years of PQE) and
  • employment law as their core skill set.
Desirable but not pre-requisite :
  • In-house experience of providing legal advice.
  • International advisory experience

Please note, this Hybrid role requires the successful candidate to be in the office in Central London 1 or 2 days per week.
