A Healthcare Facility in Westminster is looking for a Receptionist to manage patient registrations and administrative tasks in the Emergency Department. Candidates should have excellent communication skills, the ability to work flexibly, and preferably previous receptionist experience. The role requires working 37.5 hours a week with flexibility for shift patterns including nights and weekends.

Overview

The Emergency Department (ED) handles approximately 160,000 patients per year. The post holder will provide the first point of contact for members of the public attending the ED/EPCH. They will liaise with staff, answer enquiries, ensure the efficient registering and recording of patients' attendances, retrieve patients' hospital notes and/or ED/EPCH notes, and assist in the efficient and effective running of the department and the administrative processes. They will also have a key role in the administrative process of admitting patients to wards and Outpatient Clinics. This role is for a Receptionist working 37.5 hours per week with the need for flexibility to cover other shifts. The role works in shift patterns, covering 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including bank holidays.

Responsibilities
  • Register patients attending the ED and process administrative tasks for patients.
  • Deal with enquiries in person or by telephone and provide a courteous and efficient reception service.
  • Retrieve patients' hospital notes and/or ED/EPCH notes as required.
  • Assist in the efficient and effective running of the department and its administrative processes.
  • Play a key role in the administrative process of admitting patients to wards and Outpatient Clinics.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Ability to work flexibly and prioritise workload in a pressurised and changing environment.
  • Self-motivated with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a very busy team where work is deadline driven.
  • Excellent telephone manner and ability to deal efficiently with members of the public and all hospital staff.
  • Previous receptionist experience and keyboard skills would be an advantage.
