The ideal candidate will be degree-qualified in Electronics or related fields with hands-on experience in production and repair. Qualifications

  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in production engineering, electronics repair and technical support.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the escalation point for complex builds, repairs and testing.
  • Provide technical support for returned equipment and customer issues.
  • Refine test procedures, work instructions and build processes.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to support technicians.

Skills

Strong diagnostic skills across electronic and system-level faults
Experience mentoring or leading junior engineers/technicians
Proven ability to improve test processes and production documentation
Some hands-on soldering capability

We are delighted to be partnering with a highly respected engineering business based in Harrogate to recruit an Electronics Production Engineer. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced electronics professional to step into a technically senior, hands‑on role where you will provide production leadership, technical escalation, and line management within an R&D and production environment. You will act as the technical authority across production and support, bridging engineering, manufacturing and customer service to ensure product reliability, quality and on‑time delivery. You will lead complex builds, testing and repair activities, serve as the escalation point for technicians, and drive continuous improvement across processes and product performance.

Electronics Production Engineer - The Role
Production Engineering & Technical Leadership (50%)
  • Act as the escalation point for complex builds, repairs and testing
  • Oversee production testing and ensure compliance with documentation and standards
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions for recurring faults
  • Support New Product Introduction with manufacturability and serviceability feedback
  • Coordinate supplier-delivered circuit board testing
  • Participate in formal factory and site acceptance testing
Customer & Field Support (20%)
  • Provide technical support for returned equipment and customer issues
  • Conduct detailed failure investigations and produce technical reports
  • Liaise with customers and project managers on technical escalations
Continuous Improvement (20%)
  • Refine test procedures, work instructions and build processes
  • Identify efficiency, cost and quality improvements
  • Contribute to component lifecycle management and obsolescence reviews
Line Management & Mentoring (10%)
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to support technician(s)
  • Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team
Electronics Production Engineer - About You

You will be degree qualified (or equivalent experience) in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with extensive experience in production engineering, electronics repair and technical support.

You will bring:
