Overview

We are looking for an Electrical & Controls Technician to join our team in Melton Mowbray. You will support high‑speed food processing equipment, ensuring reliable operation and continuous improvement in a dynamic environment.

Shift Pattern

12‑hour shift (7 am – 7 pm) – 2 days on / 2 nights on, 4 off. Shift pattern may be adjusted to meet production requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, test, and modify automated and electromechanical equipment.
  • Apply engineering principles, drawing on mechanical and electrical knowledge, to resolve production issues.
  • Develop, track, and communicate maintenance metrics to reduce recurring equipment issues.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing or Kaizen.
  • Conduct root‑cause failure analysis on major breakdowns and recurring problems.
  • Support continuous training and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
Qualifications
  • Practical electrical engineering skills gained through HNC/HND (NVQ Level 4 apprenticeship or equivalent) and BS7671, or comparable hands‑on experience.
  • Understanding of precision instrumentation, including repair and calibration, or experience with similar technical equipment.
  • Strong problem‑solving abilities, curiosity, and a drive to improve processes and efficiency.
  • Ability to adapt to various electrical power supplies and control systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining automated or electromechanical machinery.
