Overview

Maintenance Technician (Electrical Bias) – Location: Stratford-upon-Avon

Salary: Circa £43,000 + £6,000 callout allowance + Overtime

The Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician (Electrical Bias) to join our engineering team. In this hands-on role, you will ensure all plant equipment is maintained to the highest standards of safety and efficiency. You\'ll carry out both planned and reactive maintenance, respond to breakdowns, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) in line with food and feed safety standards.
  • Respond to breakdowns during shifts and on-call to minimise downtime.
  • Test motors, diagnose defects, and troubleshoot motor trips/issues.
  • Replace and commission a range of sensors, including proximity switches, temperature probes, flowmeters, and pressure sensors.
  • Work with 4-20 mA and analogue signal systems.
  • Support new installations and panel building, including relays, MCBs, contactors, inverter drives, and soft starters.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings to assist in maintenance and installation tasks.
  • Work with a range of voltages (single phase and three phase) following electrical safety standards.
  • Support and troubleshoot PLCs (predominantly Siemens), replacing I/O cards and addressing system issues.
  • Work with SCADA systems and industrial communication protocols such as Profibus, Profinet, and Modbus.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records using the CMMS system.
  • Supervise and coordinate contractors during maintenance and project activities.
  • Contribute to Health & Safety activities, including risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Ensure the workshop and spares area are organised and well maintained.
  • Collaborate with the team to drive plant performance improvements.
Requirements
Essential
  • Time-served Electrical Engineer (City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of Wiring Regulations (17th/18th Edition).
  • Minimum 5 years\' maintenance experience in manufacturing or process industries.
  • Strong electrical knowledge: inverters, sensors, relays, motors, 3-phase and single phase systems.
  • Proven ability to fault-find and maintain PLCs, SCADA systems, and instrumentation.
  • Experience with panel building, installation, and sensor replacement.
  • Solid understanding of PPM, predictive, and corrective maintenance.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving with a strong safety focus.
Desirable
  • Experience in food production, heavy plant, or chemical processing environments.
  • High voltage experience.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems.

  • Proactive, hands-on, and safety-conscious.
  • Strong team player but able to work independently.
  • Physically fit, with the ability to work at height and in demanding environments.
  • Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail.
Working Hours
  • Monday to Friday - Day shift
  • Participation in the on-call rota required.
