Job Title: Electrical Fitter

Location: Wolverton, Milton Keynes

Shifts: Days

Rate: £32.58 per hour

Hours per week: 50+ hours

Duration: Rolling Contract

Client Summary
  • My client based in the rolling stock industry have a heritage of major contracts behind them, a track record in restoring railway carriages with turnkey technology. They are currently working on a project restoring class 150 vehicles which includes upgrading the complete interiors and underframe of the vehicles. The modernisation of these vehicles includes the interior strip out and refit of rolling stock carriages, which relates to all aspects of the vehicle.
Responsibilities
  • This role will involve the electrical overhaul of rolling stock fleets going through modernisation programs.
  • Electrical Fitters will be working directly from written VMIs and using a variety of tools including electrical testing equipment.
  • Perform tasks as directed by your line manager.
  • Read and interpret schematic drawings.
  • Investigate and resolve rolling stock electrical faults.
  • Retrieve and interpret train diagnostic data.
  • Conduct basic fault finding on electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Test various systems and produce analytical technical reports.
  • Maintain test paperwork, including test sheets and logs.
  • Liaise with production departments as needed.
  • Occasionally attend off-site railway depots to support customer requirements.
  • Complete additional reasonable tasks as directed by the line manager.
Qualifications
  • You must hold a minimum of an NVQ level 3 or equivalent certificate in an electrical discipline.
  • Must have experience working on rail vehicles.
  • Ideal applicants would have had electrical modification experience and previously worked shifts.
  • You will be a highly self-motivated individual, able to work under your own initiative.
  • Competent in electrical fault-finding.
  • Attitude and enthusiasm are key for this role as those that display reliability, technical ability and motivation may be asked to take on additional responsibilities.
