Overview

The position is ideal for individuals with a strong foundation in electrical/electronic design who are looking to apply their expertise within a collaborative and technically driven environment.

Job Purpose

To undertake, in an efficient and cost-effective manner, activities described in internal procedures for Design and Design Control.

To perform technical tasks associated with the electrical design of engineering products and systems.

To ensure that electrical design and development objectives are achieved in support of product and project activities.

Specific Job Responsibilities
  • Design of electrical systems and components in accordance with customer requirements, applicable legislation, and internal procedures.
  • Ensure product design and development requirements are met in terms of:
    • Quality (accuracy)
    • Programme (on time)
    • Cost (within budget)
  • Uphold professional standards across projects and offer guidance and support to peers on matters relating to electrical design, development, verification, and manufacture.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of relevant technologies and best practices in Electrical Engineering, including commercial and rugged equipment.
  • Provide technical support to other departments for new business development and supply appropriate documentation as needed.
General Responsibilities
  • Conduct concept and detailed designs and provide support to technical staff involved in specific projects and product development.
  • Provide or obtain cost estimates to assist with project pricing and quotations.
  • Manage activities undertaken, reporting on technical progress and resource utilization.
  • Suggest and report any ideas for improvements in efficiency, safety, or cost.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to ensure procedures are cost-effective and aligned with product and business goals.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by senior management in alignment with business needs.
  • Work on-site and occasionally at other locations as necessary.

Knowledge & Experience

Relevant engineering qualification with a minimum of 5 years' experience in Electrical/Electronic design.

Proficient in Electrical/Electronic CAD software, MRP systems, and Microsoft Office.

Professional registration desirable (IEng or working towards).

Education & Qualifications

Engineering Degree OR HNC / HND with significant relevant experience
