Job description

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer on a freelance basis for various major projects in the water sector.

Purpose

To design, specify, and requisition electrical equipment in accordance with Industry, Client, and Company standards for proposals and projects.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Understand project documentation thoroughly to define the electrical scope of works, including client specifications, handover documentation, company standards, and engineering notes.
  2. Design electrical systems following British Standards (or equivalents), considering other engineering disciplines.
  3. Document variations and deviations from the scope of works.
  4. Adhere to Company Procedures and Quality Assurance System.
  5. Prepare detailed drawings and specifications with CAD operators, based on Process and Instrumentation Diagrams, and check these drawings.
  6. Prepare requisitions for equipment and materials, evaluate quotations, and review orders for technical accuracy.
  7. Monitor subcontractors, coordinate acceptance tests, and oversee site electrical works to ensure compliance with specifications, schedule, and budget.
  8. Assist in site testing and commissioning as required.
  9. Manage resources efficiently to ensure timely and within-budget delivery of electrical engineering scope.
  10. Communicate effectively with project team members, clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
  11. Assist in project scheduling, tracking, and reporting.
  12. Contribute to the development of Operation and Maintenance Manuals and departmental procedures.
  13. Comply with all Health and Safety policies.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills
  • HNC/D or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.

  • Membership of IET, IEEE, CIWEM, or similar.
Knowledge and Experience
  • Practical experience in water/wastewater or relevant sectors.
  • Proficiency in IT and Microsoft Office.
