Job summary

An innovative contractor in the United Kingdom is seeking a Design Coordinator / Principal Engineer (Electrical) with extensive experience in the water and wastewater sector. Job Summary

Design Coordinator / Principal Engineer (Electrical)

Location: St. Asaph (Flexible Office/Home Presence)

Rate: £60 p/h – Outside IR35/LTD Company

Duration: 12 months+

The business we’re working with is an award‑winning and innovative contractor providing project solutions for the water and wastewater industry, including design, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance.

The majority of the design packages to work through and subcontractor to manage are from an M&E bias.

Key Responsibilities
  • Understand and agree the client’s project requirements
  • Agree on levels of resource against the programme
  • Track and monitor design outputs against design deliverables and project programme
  • Track and monitor design expenditure against cost allowance
  • Produce monthly progress reports
  • Review and collate documents & drawings for internal governance and client acceptance through gateway processes
  • Identify requirements for design of temporary works
  • Monitor and track change control
  • Conduct site visits as required
  • Ensure production of all documentation required to manage the project in line with CDM
Requirements
  • 10 years demonstrated design experience in the water/wastewater sector
  • Compile weekly/monthly reports as dictated by the project
  • Monitor design outputs against the deliverable schedule, including remedial cause of action as required
  • Confirm that all regulatory standards are adhered to
  • Chair design meetings
  • Contribute to the production of the design cost for individual schemes
  • Coordinate design engineers across all disciplines
  • Produce design briefs, incorporating the requirements of all project needs, including mechanical, electrical and civil interface
  • Produce and review sub‑contractor enquiry documents to enable all design to be incorporated
  • Ensure all disciplines are incorporated into the 3D model
  • Report and obtain approval for change
