Astute's Power Team is partnered with one of the leading Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Power Station operators in the UK, with a combined portfolio of 3.3GW, to recruit an Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation (EC&I) Technician to join their CCGT plant in Rochester, Kent.

The vital EC&I Technician role comes with a basic salary of £45,000 - £50,000 + overtime + up to 20% bonus + private medical + long term service bonus + other excellent benefits.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the EC&I Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Carrying out fault diagnosis, repairs, planned and unplanned maintenance activities on all EC&I assets to maximise plant availability including pressure, level, temperature and flow sensors and control systems (DCS, PLCs) and electrical equipment.
  • Assisting during major maintenance periods, shutdowns, outages etc. when required to ensure maximum plant availability and efficiency.
  • Working alongside other technicians in the maintenance team in diagnosing faults and assisting/suggesting equipment upgrades.
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records using the site CMMS.
  • Supervising and directing on site contractors when required.
  • Working within the company health, safety and environmental processes and procedures at all times.
Professional Qualifications
  • A minimum HNC qualification in electrical/electronic engineering, measurement & control or similar (a HNC is a necessity).
  • A formal Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH will be advantageous but not a necessity.
Personal Skills, Prior Experience and Knowledge
  • Excellent technical knowledge of PLC, DCS, Instrumentation and some electrical systems.
  • Hands on maintenance experience gained in a heavy process environment e.g. power stations, chemical plants, refineries, steel works etc.
  • Some experience with planning and scoping works with the ability to complete small projects.
  • Experience with CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems).
