Job summary

An established law firm in Newcastle is seeking an experienced Employers' and Public Liability (EL/PL) Fee Earner to manage a caseload of claims. Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years' experience in managing EL/PL claims and an excellent understanding of personal injury law. This role offers a competitive salary of £25,000-£35,000 plus bonuses and hybrid working options.

EL/PL Fee Earner - Newcastle

Salary: £25,000-£35,000 + Bonus

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm (Hybrid working available)

Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

The Role

An established law firm in Newcastle is seeking an experienced Employers' and Public Liability (EL/PL) Fee Earner to join their growing Personal Injury department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with solid experience handling portal‑exited or non‑portal fast‑track personal injury claims who is confident litigating Part 7 matters and has a strong grasp of the Civil Procedure Rules.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of EL/PL claims from instruction through to settlement or trial.
  • Assess case merits, gather evidence (documentary and witness), and prepare claims for litigation.
  • Liaise with clients, insurers, solicitors, courts, Counsel, and other third parties.
  • Value general and special damages including loss of earnings, care, and Smith v Manchester awards.
  • Draft pleadings, schedules of loss, and other relevant documentation.
  • Issue proceedings and handle all aspects of litigation up to trial.
  • Maintain excellent client care standards and respond promptly to enquiries.
About You
  • Minimum 2 years' experience managing EL/PL claims, including litigated matters.
  • Strong working knowledge of personal injury law and the Civil Procedure Rules.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage a busy caseload effectively.
  • A proactive, organised, and team‑oriented approach.
