Role Summary

Due to ongoing project requirements and strategic growth, Our Client is seeking a skilled EC&I Design Engineer to join their dedicated team. This vital role focuses on designing electrical, control, and instrumentation systems for the nuclear sector, including new build projects, ongoing operations, and decommissioning initiatives. As a key member of the engineering team, you will play a crucial part in shaping safety-critical systems that meet rigorous industry standards. Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed electrical and instrumentation designs, including block cable diagrams, single line diagrams, general arrangement drawings, and wiring schematics, using AutoCAD.
  • Prepare and specify equipment schedules, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
  • Source and specify suitable EC&I equipment to meet safety and functional criteria.
  • Collaborate effectively with clients, project teams, and subcontractors to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Ensure all project deliverables are completed accurately, on time, and within budget.
  • Maintain clear communication with stakeholders to build strong relationships and identify further business opportunities.
  • Contribute to project meetings, representing the company professionally and providing technical insights.
  • Support site activities related to installation and commissioning as needed, including occasional site visits and overnight stays.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Minimum of two years' experience as an EC&I Engineer or in a similar role within a regulated environment.
  • Relevant engineering qualifications (HNC or higher preferred).
  • Proven experience designing EC&I systems, including both conventional and safety-critical applications.
  • Knowledge of EC&I equipment specifications and applications.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to the nuclear and industrial sectors.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a methodical approach.
  • Ability to produce clear, concise design documentation and drawings.
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Higher technical qualifications such as HND or above.
  • Experience within the nuclear industry.
  • Functional safety knowledge (e.g., IEC 61508 or IEC 61513).
  • Familiarity with PLC systems and control system integration.
  • Understanding of standards compliance, including BS7671 wiring regulations.
  • Knowledge of safety systems design, diagnostics, and verification processes.
