About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and committed Dual Registered Manager to oversee two children’s residential homes in Leyland. The post holder will provide leadership, direction, and operational oversight, ensuring both homes meet all requirements under the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
The homes provide care and support for children and young people aged 7–17 with emotional, behavioural, and trauma-related needs. The successful candidate will ensure the delivery of safe, child-centred, and structured care that promotes positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Hold Ofsted registration for two children’s homes.
- Lead and manage staff teams to ensure high-quality, consistent care.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations, safeguarding requirements, and organisational policies.
- Oversee care planning, risk management, recording and reporting systems.
- Prepare both homes for Ofsted inspections and lead on service improvement plans.
- Manage staffing rotas, recruitment, training, supervisions, and appraisals.
- Maintain budget oversight and ensure resources are used efficiently.
- Build strong working relationships with local authorities, social workers, health professionals, and education providers.
- Promote a positive, therapeutic environment for children and young people.
- Provide regular reports and updates to the Responsible Individual and senior leadership team.
Essential Requirements
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a UK Registered Manager in a children’s home.
- Proven track record of achieving “Good” or “Outstanding” Ofsted outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, children’s legislation, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience leading and developing staff teams.
- Ability to manage budgets, resources, and service performance.
- High level of emotional resilience and ability to manage complex situations.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience managing multiple homes or dual-site services.
- Background in therapeutic or trauma-informed practice.
- Additional qualifications in social work, psychology, or related fields.
- Experience working with external stakeholders and multi-agency partners.
