About the Role:

Prospero Teaching is excited to announce an opportunity for a dedicated Design and Technology Teacher to join a secondary school in the Southport area. The role will be starting in January 2026, and you will have a vital role that involves delivering engaging lessons, assessing student progress, managing classroom resources, and ensuring health and safety standards are met.

Design and Technology Teacher

Location: Southport, PR8

Start Date: January 2026

Contract Type: Temporary, Long Term

Working Hours: Full-time, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Pay: Paid to scale

Key Responsibilities:
  • Covering areas such as product design, textiles and food technology.
  • Supporting students to develop creative solutions to real-world problems.
  • Designing engaging and practical lessons.
  • Providing constructive feedback, marking assignments, and preparing students for exams.
  • Ensuring correct tools, equipment, and materials are used safely and effectively.
  • Working with other teachers to develop the curriculum plans.
  • Teaching students how to use machinery and tools safely.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Proven experience teaching in a UK secondary school.
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding training (desirable, but not essential as training can be provided).
  • Right to Work in the UK.
  • Enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or willingness to apply for a new one.
  • Ability to provide two professional references.
