Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking a driver assistant to support users on their journeys to care centres and schools. Candidates must hold a D1 or PCV licence and have a caring nature. Overview

Sandy (temporarily in Shefford)

Hours, Shifts and Rates

• HOURS: 10 to 35 hours per week. Monday to Friday
• SHIFTS: split shifts (you will be dropping off and collecting service users)
• Starts between 7:00 am and 8:30 am
• Return between 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm
• RATES: Drivers - £14 per hour

Job Purpose

• To act as a driver assistant, supporting and assisting service users on the journey to and from care centres, schools and other locations.
• To work as part of a large team of driver assistants based at centralised depots under the day-to-day management of Transport Officers.
• To assist service users on vehicles and ensure their safety whilst getting on or off the vehicle and on the journey.
• To assist customers onto and off the vehicle, by means of a tail-lift where necessary, including handling wheelchairs and other aids to daily living.
• To collect and return customers from their homes to the vehicle, providing a door-to-door service.
• To ensure the physical, mental and social well-being of customers whilst on the vehicle.

Qualifications and Requirements

• All drivers must hold a D1 or PCV licence with D1 without restrictions and have a caring nature.
• All candidates will need to have a caring nature as they will be working with vulnerable clients.
