Responsibilities

  • Clean floor areas by vacuuming, mopping, buffing, and spray cleaning.
  • Undertake deep cleans in areas where infection is present.
  • Remove rubbish including domestic and clinical waste from designated areas.
  • Conduct damp dusting of all surfaces.
  • Maintain high cleanliness standards.

Overview

Domestic Assistant – Higher Level, Hexham General Hospital, Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The closing date is 23 September 2025.

Are you looking for a role which allows you to balance your work and home commitments within an organisation that supports its staff? If so, come and join our domestic team at Hexham General Hospital as a Domestic Assistant.

The department operates between 06:00 - 20:00 and we can be flexible within these hours to accommodate you. We currently have roles from 18 to 30 hours per week.

We are also looking to recruit candidates onto our Staff Bank to fill roles on an "as and when required" basis. If you are interested in this please state this on your application form and at interview.

Responsibilities

Main duties of the job

Quite simply, the NHS could not function without our Domestics! Every single service in the Trust relies on domestics to keep the place clean and safe for patients, visitors and staff. You\'ll be part of a team striving to maintain the highest cleanliness standards in wards, departments, corridors and offices, and in doing so making a real difference to the NHS.

  • Cleaning of floor areas as scheduled by means of vacuuming, mopping, buffing and spray cleaning.
  • Undertake deep cleans in areas where infection is present.
  • Removal of rubbish including domestic and clinical waste from designated areas to disposal point.
  • Damp dusting of all surfaces, ledges, shelves, curtain rails.
  • Cleaning of internal glass.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness in all work areas.
  • Carry out any urgent spot cleaning and spillage.
