Job summary

A leading construction firm in the United Kingdom is seeking a Document Controller to manage and maintain project documentation for construction sites. This role involves ensuring accuracy and compliance of documents while supporting the project team. Ideal candidates will have experience in document control, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work under tight deadlines. This position is based primarily in Oxford but may require occasional travel to London. The contract is for 12 months, starting in January 2026.

Job Specification: Document Controller

Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract – 12 months (from January 2026)

Location: Oxford construction site, with occasional travel to London office

Role Overview

The Document Controller will be responsible for managing, organising, and maintaining all project documentation for the construction site. This role ensures that all documents are accurate, compliant, and distributed in a timely manner. You will work closely with your department manager and the wider project team to uphold company standards and support smooth project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Control, manage, and maintain all project documentation to ensure accuracy, version control, and compliance with company standards.
  • Administer documentation processes, ensuring coordination of all requirements and alignment with project timelines.
  • Ensure all outgoing documentation is correctly formatted, dated, and referenced with the appropriate revisions.
  • Support the project team by ensuring all required documents are in place, up to date, and compliant with project and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with the department manager to meet tight deadlines while ensuring consistent quality of output.
  • Uphold the highest standards of quality control within the department.
  • Manage document workflows, distribution lists, and approval processes to ensure efficient communication across teams.
  • Maintain accurate records and audit trails for all documentation.
  • Provide general administrative support related to document management as required.
Skills & Experience
  • Experience in a document control role, ideally within construction or a similar project-driven environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines while ensuring quality and compliance.
  • Confident using document management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels.
Additional Information

The role is primarily based on site in Oxford.

Occasional work from our London office may be required depending on project needs.

Fixed Term Contract commencing January 2026 for a period of 12 months.
