A local government authority is seeking a Director of Younger Adults to drive transformation in adult social care services in Birmingham. As Director of Younger Adults, Safeguarding & Provider Services at Birmingham City Council, you'll be a senior leader reporting directly to the Executive Director of Adult Social Care & Health. This is a pivotal role within the Executive Directorate Management Team (EDMT), where you will shape and deliver services that safeguard and empower younger adults across the city. We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive, guided by our core principles of being helpful, open-minded, and delivering positive outcomes. You will oversee a portfolio that includes safeguarding, mental health, learning disability and autism services, transitions, internally provided services, and CQC assurance. You will lead one of the largest and most complex service areas in local government, ensuring operational excellence and transformational outcomes for Birmingham's citizens.
We are looking for an authentic, visionary leader with proven senior experience in adult social care or a related field. You will bring a deep understanding of safeguarding and statutory frameworks, alongside the strategic thinking to drive innovation and transformation at scale. Collaborative and resilient, you will work with politicians, partners, and communities to co-produce outcomes, while confidently managing large budgets and teams. Above all, you will champion equality, diversity, and inclusion, creating services and workplaces where people thrive and citizens receive the very best support.
