CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is a leading global provider of integrated facilities and corporate real estate management. We are recruiting a Director of Engineering to join the team located in London.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the mobilization and management of a brand new, 1,000,000 sq ft flagship building for one of our key technology clients. They will provide senior technical and operational leadership to their team, including: the development and implementation of policies and procedures; managing the performance of all FM staff and systems related to the site and taking the opportunities of a technology enabled building to achieve outstanding quality, efficiency, and sector innovation.

Role Summary:

  • Hire and lead a team of technical staff to deliver maintenance and technical services for a high-profile mixed-use building
  • Design and execute a capital asset maintenance and replacement strategy for all building systems including life safety, mechanical, electrical and plumbing assets.
  • Deliver specified service levels within budget, to an excellent level of quality, and in the agreed timeframe.
  • Ensure technical excellence in the delivery of maintenance services, including development of staff and suppliers
  • Provide recommendations for tactical and strategic planning
  • Lead the procurement of detailed engineering and maintenance service contracts
  • Responsible for new business development, including identification of opportunities, client solicitation, proposal development and presentation
  • Anticipate and respond to client's needs
  • Supervise the planning, budgeting and control of operating and capital expenditures
  • Oversee and approve the calculation of all special billings
  • Supervise the preparation of annual budgets, forecast, management plans, monthly performance reports, and variance reports
  • Ensure the delivery of accurate, timely and complete reports and perform regular inspections of property
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures, Emergency Preparedness Documents and Disaster Recovery Plans
  • Mobilise FM systems such as safe systems of work, permit systems and computerised maintenance management systems
  • Manage warranties schedules
  • Oversee the fit out of technical spaces
  • Oversee the commissioning and witnessing activities on site to mitigate missed opportunities
  • Establish requirements for the FM team such as tools, PPE and uniforms
  • Recommend and direct alterations, maintenance and reconditioning of assets as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree (BEng/BS preferred) from four-year college or university in a numerate subject
  • Multiple years of related experience leading technical and operational teams for flagship buildings
  • Intermediate skills with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Applications
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze and interpret complex business documents
  • Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches and articles with accuracy and confidence
  • Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees, clients, top management and/or public groups
  • Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees, top management and client groups to take desired action
  • Working knowledge of management accounting concepts and the ability to manage a P&L account
  • Ability to solve multi-faceted problems and develop a variety of well-reasoned options in complex situations
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills
  • Draw upon the analysis of others and makes recommendations that have a direct impact on the company
  • Excellent working knowledge and understanding of architectural, electrical and mechanical systems
  • Experience working with smart buildings
  • Good understanding of leases, contracts and related documents
  • Master's degree (MEng/MS) desirable
  • Professional designation such as CPM, RPA, CCIM or similar desirable
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or similar preferred
