This role is open for the London, UK location only. Candidates must be based there, as the position requires working from the office at least three days per week (3:2 hybrid policy).

Responsible for architecting and delivering an orchestration system for AI workloads across devices, laptops, and cloud environments. This role also plays a founding leadership role in establishing Lenovo’s new site at Imperial College London.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architect and lead the development of Lenovo’s AI model orchestration platform.
  • Design dynamic, context-aware workload routing that optimizes cost, privacy, latency, and performance.
  • Collaborate with academic researchers to advance federated learning and privacy-preserving AI methods.
  • Lead and mentor a high-caliber R&D engineering team (~6 engineers).
  • Define evaluation pipelines and performance metrics to ensure scalability, reproducibility, and stability.
  • Drive integration of orchestration capabilities into Lenovo’s products.
  • Track emerging trends in distributed AI, multi-agent orchestration, and edge-to-cloud integration.
Key Qualifications
  • 8+ years in AI/ML engineering, distributed systems, or orchestration platform development.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with AI/ML workloads.
  • Strong expertise in model routing strategies, orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Ray, Airflow, Prefect), and scaling multi-model inference.
  • Proven ability to optimize for latency, cost, and throughput at scale.
  • Experience with experimentation platforms (A/B testing, reinforcement learning, policy evaluation).
  • Proficiency in observability and monitoring systems for correctness, drift detection, and performance.
  • Demonstrated leadership in R&D settings, with a track record of translating research into deployed systems.
Preferred
  • Experience collaborating with academic research institutions.
  • Prior work in AI workload optimization for consumer electronics, IoT, or edge platforms.
  • Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Computer Science, AI/ML, Distributed Systems, or related discipline.
  • Familiarity with federated learning, agent-based orchestration, and privacy-preserving AI frameworks.
  • Ability to navigate emerging technology landscapes and define scalable innovation frameworks.
