About the role

We're looking for a Digital Engineering Apprentice to join our team in our offices at Ringwood in Hampshire. As part of our team, you'll have the opportunity to help us deliver retirement living schemes. This role will be on a multi-disciplinary basis and has an Architectural and Structural design bias.

You will learn the digital skills used to develop our planning application and technical project designs, creating Sketchup and AutoCAD models / drawings, working with building engineering data, all whilst collaborating with a team of Churchill Retirement Living’s Design and Construction professionals. Below is a list of some of the activities you can expect to be doing when you join our team :

  • Production of architectural and engineering drawings, using computer generated 3D or 2D models
  • Contributing to finding solutions to design challenges
  • Taking part in design meetings, site visits, presentations, workshops, etc.

Alongside your formal education at one of our local partner colleges, you will develop your skills via on-the-job training whilst working alongside other members of our team who will work with you day-to-day to provide you with the support and guidance you need to progress your career.

Year 1

You’ll gain experience of working in the three core areas of design in the business on rotation during the first year. These being :

  • Group Construction and Commercial’s Technical and Structural Engineering Design teams
  • Southwest Regional Architectural Design Team
  • Southwest Regional Technical Design Team
Year 2 & 3

During these years there will be the opportunity to specialise in two of the areas rotated during the first year.

Exposure and overview understanding will be provided throughout the apprenticeship to aid with studies and to enhance collaborative working practice.

Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll have access to our multi-disciplinary approach to design and construction. You’ll also be able to learn through webinar training and have the opportunity to receive knowledge and understanding of wider construction disciplines, providing a respect and appreciation for this enriching and diverse industry.

What Qualification do I get?
  • Digital Engineering Technician Apprenticeship
  • BTEC level 3 in Construction and the Built Environment
  • NVQ level 3 Diploma in Built Environment Design
What opportunities are there for progression?

If you do well on this apprenticeship you could follow on to apprenticeship qualifications at level 4, and degree level to further your career as an Architect or Architectural Technologist or Structural Engineer.
