An established Main Contractor is looking for an experienced Design Manager to join their growing team in North East London. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong residential experience who is looking for a new challenge, working on fast-paced recladding and fire remediation projects across London.

The Role

You will initially be involved in the PCSA stage, supporting pre-construction and technical coordination before progressing to project delivery. You will typically manage around three live projects at any given time, ensuring all design information is fully coordinated, compliant, and delivered to programme.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the design process from PCSA through to completion.
  • Coordinate between consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure compliance with Building Regulations and project specifications.
  • Prepare and submit Building Regulations applications and obtain approvals.
  • Ensure design compliance with Building Safety Act gateways and associated Building Control processes.
  • Review and manage consultant appointments and scope of services.
  • Liaise with external consultants on fire risk assessments, façade design, and remedial strategies.
  • Manage design reviews, risk registers, and change control procedures.
  • Ensure timely issue and approval of design information to support project delivery.
  • Work closely with project teams to resolve design-related challenges and technical queries on-site.
About You
  • Proven experience as a Design Manager within a Main Contractor, ideally on residential or recladding / fire remediation projects.
  • Strong understanding of Building Regulations, Gateway 1-3 processes, and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrable experience in consultant coordination, design approvals, and technical submissions.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
What's on Offer
  • Competitive salary of £70,000 - £80,000 (dependent on experience)
  • Car allowance / travel allowance
  • Hybrid working
  • Opportunity to work with a reputable contractor delivering complex, high-profile schemes

If you are looking for a new challenge and want to play a key role in delivering safer, better-designed residential buildings, this could be the perfect next step in your career.
