Overview

We are seeking a Design Draughtsman with experience in sheet metal and cabinet/enclosure design to join a busy engineering team. This role is centred on producing detailed 2D manufacturing drawings in AutoCAD for bespoke, high-tech products.

Working from client-approved drawings, you will develop them into flat patterns and internal layouts that can be issued directly to suppliers and used by the shopfloor for assembly. Every project is custom-built, offering variety and the chance to see your work brought to life in production.

This company designs and manufactures cutting-edge technology in-house, allowing you to see the direct impact of your work from design through to production.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed 2D manufacturing drawings in AutoCAD for bespoke, high-tech products, centred on sheet metal and cabinet/enclosure design.
• Develop client-approved drawings into flat patterns and internal layouts that can be issued to suppliers and used by the shopfloor for assembly.
• Contribute to projects that are custom-built, offering variety and the opportunity to see designs come to life in production.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to deliver accurate manufacturing documentation from concept through to release.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Background in sheet metal design
• Strong AutoCAD 2D skills
• Understanding of how cabinets and enclosures are manufactured
• Attention to detail, with the ability to tailor layouts and specifications
• Willingness to develop 3D design skills as the team evolves
• Proficiency in CAD with experience producing 2D (and ideally 3D) drawings
• Practical experience working with sheet metal fabrication
• Experience designing bespoke products or custom solutions
