Responsibilities
- Play a key leadership role in providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients.
- Support the Ward Manager in day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth running of the ward.
- Lead and motivate a skilled team of nurses and healthcare staff.
- Contribute to clinical governance and service improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.
- Support Service Lead in managing sickness and absence on a shift basis and in the absence of the Ward in line with policy, in partnership with HR and the principles of safe staffing.
- Participate in the recruitment and selection of staff, including interview panels and a formal induction programme.
- Liaise with the service lead when reviewing ward's basic protocol.
- Be scheduled for weekly on-call duty at least once a month.
- Attend service improvement meetings such as clinical improvement, restrictive practice, team meetings and other practice review meetings as scheduled.
What we are looking for
- Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) or RNLD with active NMC registration
- Experience in a leadership role within a mental health setting
- Strong clinical and communication skills
- Sound IT skills
- A passion for improving mental health care services
- A minimum of 3 years' experience of working as a nurse in a mental health setting
- Experience in OPMH care or PICU is desirable
- You must have outstanding communication skills, excellent clinical skills and be motivated to offer the highest standards of care
