Are you a Deputy Sister or Charge Nurse wanting a new challenge or an experienced Staff Nurse wanting to enhance your career? Deene Acute Surgical Unit (DASU) is an acute Surgical Emergency Admissions and Short Stay Ward specialising in General Surgery, Urology and ENT emergencies, working closely with our Surgical Same Day Emergency Care Unit. You will have a high level of knowledge regarding the trust-wide pressures around capacity and Clinical Governance, with expertise in the day-to-day care and management of all patients on the ward. You will work as a leader and role model within the ward team, supporting the Ward Sister to ensure high standards of care are delivered, maintained, evaluated and improved as needed. You will contribute to ward improvement and help enhance the patient experience and team morale, while supporting the organization’s vision. NB: The post includes internal rotation.
As a Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse you will work closely with the Ward Sister to support the ward team in delivering high standards of care. You will be the nurse in change, with a clinical overview of the ward, providing support to the ward team and challenging where necessary. Some day-to-day management tasks will be part of the role.

To work proactively to support the Ward Sister in delivering high-quality care and a positive patient experience. This will involve role modelling professional behaviours and deploying practice development and educational methodologies to develop and support staff. The post holder will provide a holistic, high-quality, patient-focused, efficient and safe service for patients, acting with responsibility, accountability and integrity; reporting adverse events and poor practice to the person in charge. The post holder will rotate through other wards/departments as required and act in accordance with the NMC code and local standards of care and policies.
