Job Description

Reporting to the EMEA Payroll Operations Manager, you will help manage the effective delivery of Informa payroll services, working with multiple external payroll providers for the EMEA region, which currently covers approximately 34 separate payrolls across more than 12 countries.

Working within a team of seven, this position must review and maintain payroll controls, compliance, and governance. Informa takes the security and privacy of company, colleague, and customer data seriously; the role is responsible for ensuring payroll activities are fully compliant with all data privacy laws and policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with the EMEA payroll Bureaus to ensure all payrolls are processed accurately and on time.
  • Collaborate with HR and the benefits team to facilitate the smooth submission of people data to the relevant payroll bureau and serve as the main contact for payroll-related issues.
  • Carry out monthly payroll checks to ensure accuracy, compliance, and readiness for approval.
  • Prepare monthly payroll analysis reports and approval documentation for senior management.
  • Ensure salaries and third-party payments are paid accurately and on time via online banking platforms, ensuring accounts are funded.
  • Handle month-end payroll reporting, including reconciling payroll journals, uploading into finance systems, reconciling HMRC payments, and preparing pension and benefit reports.
  • Work with finance to reconcile payroll control accounts monthly.
  • Oversee year-end payroll obligations such as P11D and Class1A submissions to HMRC.
  • Review company car data to maintain Benefit in Kind (BIK) values.
  • Maintain and develop payroll procedures, ensuring documentation is up-to-date.
  • Promote continuous process improvement and team review.
  • Monitor payroll bureau performance, conduct service reviews, and take corrective actions if needed.
  • Manage weekly HR and benefit interface files, addressing deficiencies.
  • Support payroll issues related to pay, tax, insurance, pensions, and benefits.
  • Assist in planning and prioritizing departmental work.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure payroll data integrity.
  • Provide system administration support, including resetting passwords.
  • Respond promptly to payroll inquiries.
  • Stay updated on payroll legislation and advise the business accordingly.
  • Support payroll initiatives and collaborate with HR, Finance, and wider teams.
  • Archive payroll information per business procedures.
  • Ensure GDPR compliance in payroll data handling.
People Management Responsibilities
  • Deputize for the Payroll Operations Manager and support team management.
  • Ensure effective communication within the team.
  • Participate in recruitment and career development.
  • Support a culture of engagement and act as a role model.
  • Work with HR on management policies.
