About the Role

Leadership. Accountability. Service. Safety.

Are you an experienced operational leader with a passion for people development and exceptional customer service? Do you thrive in a fast‑paced hire environment where every day brings a new challenge? If so, this Depot Manager role within the powered access industry could be the perfect next step.

As Depot Manager, you’ll take full ownership of the day‑to‑day running of a busy powered access hire depot, overseeing the hire desk, logistics, engineering workshop, yard operations, and fleet availability. You’ll lead from the front—balancing commercial focus with strong operational discipline to deliver results through your team.

Your goal: a safe, efficient, customer‑focused depot with high fleet utilisation and strong team culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the full powered access depot operation, including hire desk, logistics, workshop, and yard functions
  • Lead, coach, and develop a multi‑skilled team to achieve KPIs, service levels, and commercial targets
  • Ensure outstanding customer service across all touchpoints, from enquiry to off‑hire
  • Manage the complete hire cycle — availability checks, planning, delivery, on‑hire, returns, and damage control
  • Drive efficiencies across planning, routing, fleet utilisation, turnaround times, and workshop throughput
  • Be the escalation point for customer issues and operational challenges
  • Ensure all MEWP operations remain fully compliant with health & safety, LOLER, PUWER, IPAF and company policies
  • Work collaboratively with neighbouring depots, engineering teams, and central support functions
  • Produce accurate performance reports, monitor customer trends, and identify opportunities to grow revenue and improve service
About You
  • Experience in depot, branch, or operations management—ideally within powered access, plant hire, tool hire, or construction equipment
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams in a busy operational setting
  • Commercially aware with a proactive, customer‑first mindset
  • Highly organised with strong problem‑solving abilities and the confidence to make operational decisions
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
  • Comfortable using hire management systems (e.g., Syrinx, InspHire) and proficient with MS Office
  • Committed to high standards of safety, service excellence, and operational efficiency
About the Company

You’ll be joining a respected and well‑established powered access hire provider, supplying MEWPs and specialist access equipment to construction, infrastructure, industrial, and maintenance sectors across the UK. The business is known for its reliable fleet, technical capability, and commitment to safety, service and continuous investment in people and equipment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious leader who wants to take ownership of a key depot and make a real impact within a supportive and growing organisation.
