A well-established engineering company in York is seeking an Administration Assistant to provide key administrative support in a busy environment. The ideal candidate will have prior administration experience in engineering, possess strong IT skills, and be proactive. This full-time position offers a salary of £23,953.80, with a working pattern of Monday to Thursday, 7:30am-3:45pm, and Friday 7:30am-2:00pm.

  • Carrying out stock takes and monitoring stock levels.

Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Administration Assistant to join a well-established engineering company at their York depot.

This role will see you providing key administrative support to the team, ensuring smooth operations and accurate record-keeping within a busy engineering environment.

The ideal candidate will have previous administration experience within an engineering, manufacturing, or similar environment and be confident taking ownership of office administration tasks. If you are proactive, organised, and enjoy working in a small, close-knit team where everyone contributes, you’ll fit in well. Strong IT skills, good communication, and the ability to work without needing direction is essential.

Responsibilities
  • Issuing job numbers to tasks and updating internal asset maintenance logs
  • Developing and maintaining period reports to highlight trends, failures, and improvement recommendations
  • Checking completed maintenance records for compliance and uploading them to the Fleet Asset Management System
  • Raising, processing, and closing out work orders, including spares, materials, and labour details
  • Running reports from the client system to support KPI reporting
  • Assisting Project Engineers with fault coding, risk scoring, and fleet modifications
  • Carrying out stock takes and monitoring auto-replenishment processes to maintain depot stock levels
  • Providing general administrative support, including document logging, purchasing, scanning, filing, and retrieval
  • Supporting the office team with day-to-day tasks as required
Working pattern

This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 7:30am-3:45pm and Friday 7:30am-2:00pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break each day, earning a salary of £23,953.80.
