Job summary

WESTERN ISLES DENTAL CENTRE

DENTAL RECEPTIONIST

Band 2 £25,694 to £27,900 per annum

Distant Islands Allowance £1,406 per annum

37 hours per week

Join our dedicated team at the Western Isles Dental Centre as a member of the Public Dental Service and play a key role in delivering high-quality patient care. As the first point of contact for patients and visitors, you’ll provide a professional and welcoming reception service, manage appointment bookings, and support the smooth running of our clinics.

What you’ll do:
  • Schedule and manage patient appointments using the EXACT system
  • Handle telephone and face-to-face enquiries with professionalism and empathy
  • Process payments and maintain accurate patient records
  • Support urgent dental triage and coordinate with clinical teams
  • Ensure compliance with NHS confidentiality, data protection, and health & safety standards
What we’re looking for:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Competent with IT systems and keyboard use
  • Be professional, courteous and patient focussed
  • Have a calm and professional manner, being able to manage challenging situation
  • Well organised with time management skills
  • Previous reception or administrative experience, particularly in a health care setting, is desirable
