Dental Paediatric Consultant

This is an exciting new part time Paediatric Consultant post to join our team to provide a wide range of primary dental care for a diverse range of patients who are referred to the Service and subject to the Terms and Conditions of service governing the appointment of Hospital Medical and Dental Staff in England and Wales, or as subsequently varied by agreement.

The Consultant will be a highly regarded member of the services senior management team working with the Dental Service Manager, Clinical Lead, Consultant in Special Care Dentistry, Clinical Team Lead and Dental Nurse Manager. Active involvement with the Paediatric Managed Clinical Network will be essential.

Main duties of the job

o The development of paediatric specialist clinical capacity and effective support, guidance, training and workforce development opportunities for our clinical teams now and in the futureo To support and further develop clinicians so that they can demonstrate enhanced (Tier 2) skills in paediatric dentistry, enabling the service to develop in line with recommendations of relevant Commissioning Guidance for Paediatric Dentistry while offering high quality care for childreno To be involved in and guide the management of medically compromised children and adolescents in the community and to develop and improve essential local, regional and national linkso In conjunction with other Specialists within and out with the service deliver, develop and enhance the provision of treatment under conscious sedation and general anaesthesiao To further develop emergency and urgent dental trauma management and treatment within Northamptonshireo To contribute to planning and management of paediatric dental services for Northamptonshire helping to deliver and secure commissioned service deliveryo Lead on CPD provision within service for paediatric general anaesthesia and conscious sedation
