A major healthcare provider in York is looking for a Decontamination Technician to oversee the cleaning and sterilization of medical devices. The role requires attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must have Functional Maths and English Level 2 and experience in customer service. The Endoscopy Decontamination Department (York) provides a vital service decontaminating and reprocessing flexible Endoscopes, for use in the Endoscopy department and Theatres within the Trust. You will be involved in the cleaning, inspecting, packing, and distributing flexible endoscopes to the Endoscopy department and Theatres. The successful candidate will require attention to detail, and an eagerness and ability to learn.
We have a comprehensive in-house training package, which successful candidates will be expected to complete. The role is physically demanding; you will be required to lift and handle heavy instrument sets and endure long periods of standing. As a clinical support the department is operational 7 days a week, to meet the demands of the hospital. The department is compliant to ISO 13485 Quality Management System. Previous experience working with a quality system or in decontamination is desirable but not essential.
The role involves exposure to infectious material and bodily fluids.
