Job summary

A leading investment platform is seeking a Cyber Security Analyst for a 9-month contract in Bristol. You will join the Cyber Defence team to investigate and resolve security events. The ideal candidate will have over 3 years of experience in a Security Operations role, a solid understanding of security concepts, and familiarity with cloud environments. About the role

A Cyber Security Analyst is required on a 9-month fixed term contract, as part of the Cyber Defence team, to identify, investigate, and resolve cyber security events that target the Hargreaves Lansdown (HL) enterprise environment.

What you will be doing
  • Proactively identifying advanced threats that evade automated security solutions, to allow mitigations or enhanced monitoring to be implemented.
  • Proactively hunting and performing analysis against available log sources.
  • Develop datasets utilising cyber services available, also identifying gaps in data from the portfolio of deployed security tools.
  • Leverage internal and external resources to investigate threats, vulnerabilities, and alerts on various attackers and attack infrastructure.
  • Use existing security platforms to identify threats, determine root cause, scope, and severity of each and compile/report findings into a finished analytical product.
  • Determine automation/SOAR runbooks for system/process optimisation/customisation and investigation improvements.
  • Work with our SIEM and cloud platform solutions to investigate threats, deliver or recommend countermeasures, and perform advanced network and host analysis in the event of a compromise.
About you

The candidate must have an understanding of security technologies, a curious investigative mind, a general interest in cyber security, and the ability to communicate ideas to varied audiences.

  • Demonstrated experience in a Security Operations role, leading Incident investigation and remediation activities.
  • Solid understanding of security concepts and principles, including network and cyber security.
  • Working knowledge of cloud environments Azure/AWS as well as strong working knowledge of Microsoft Security Stack.
  • At least 3 years' experience in Security with a track record of successful accomplishments.
  • Demonstrated operational experience with threat hunting activities.
  • Demonstrated experience with computer networking and operating systems.
  • Demonstrated experience of current threats, vulnerabilities, and attack trends.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Interview process

The interview process for this role will be two stages which includes technical competency based questions.

Working Schedule

This role is based in Bristol head office, BS1 5HL. This role is permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We have returned to the office, however for this role we offer a hybrid flexible working pattern to enable you the option of working from home and coming into the office.
