Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from £13.35 an hour; this increases to £14.56 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.

It's our policy to offer new colleagues joining us a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, but if you'd like to work fewer hours (to a minimum of 12) we have opportunities for this too and would still love to hear from you.

The organisation schedules contracted hours within the availability windows and provides 3 weeks' notice of shifts. We are happy to support flexibility; if your available times match closely but not exactly, we’d still like to hear from you.

As the face of Tesco out on the road, we deliver all the way from Landsend to John O'Groats. Our Customer Delivery Drivers meet and talk to customers in their homes every day. This role is about more than driving: it is about helping others and delivering great service, with a smile.

Its hands on, physical and varied. No two shifts are the same; customers may need help in many ways. You will be largely based on the road, with a support team at base.

You will be responsible for

Delivering your part of the customer shopping trip by:

  • Ensuring the van and trays are clean and tidy
  • Leaving the back yard clean and picking up litter
  • Washing trays as part of the tray wash process
  • Loading the van and checking roadworthiness
  • Discussing changes to orders with customers, offering refunds if needed
  • Taking care of products/deliveries and treating them as your own
  • Explaining substitutions and pricing to customers
  • Delivering within the customer time slot
  • Calling the customer before arriving if early
  • Calling the store if running 30+ minutes late

You will need

  • Build relationships with colleagues to create team spirit
  • Be warm and welcoming with customers and colleagues
  • Respond quickly to changing customer needs
  • Be energetic and driven to deliver beyond expectations
  • Share ideas with your Manager on store improvement
  • A valid UK/EU/EEA Driving licence (Full or Automatic only) for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points
