Employer's Name: Wild Boar Wood Campsite Location: West Sussex

Are you interested in living an alternative lifestyle?

We are currently on the lookout for a couple or two friends to fill the campsite warden position for the 2026 season. Wild Boar Wood is a glamping only site in West Sussex, with just nine bell tents in a beautiful semi‑ancient woodland. We operate low‑noise, family‑oriented campsites and no cars are allowed on site. We offer the closest thing to wild camping, with the added luxury of basic facilities. There is mains drinking water and running hot water, but no electricity. And, of course, lots of trees. The campsite is completely off‑grid and your accommodation would be in a Shepherd's Hut on the campsite.

Warden Characteristics
  • Hard working, diligent and responsible
  • Must have your own vehicle
  • Enjoys interacting with people, including children, with a strong customer service focus
  • Loves the outdoors and camping
  • Physically fit and active – there is a degree of lifting and moving of heavy objects required
  • Would suit people seeking an alternative lifestyle
  • Relaxed, down to earth, happy person – we run a chilled out campsite
  • Practical with good general maintenance and DIY skills
  • Self‑starter, who is not satisfied with average and thinks outside the box
Timing & Commitment
  • The position(s) will be from early March – start of October
  • Weekends are busy, however outside of school holidays the campsite is generally quiet midweek
  • In March the focus is on setting up the campsites, maintenance and building projects
  • Wardens may be asked to swap locations (between our East and West Sussex campsites) as cover or to provide variety, or to allow specialist skills to be used of one warden at different sites
  • Expected hours working ranges between 20 hours per week to 40 plus hours in peak times
  • Salary based on 40 hours per week. End of season bonus. Accommodation including gas, water, firewood and solar power.

You will be responsible for the campsite and all of its guests.

  • Bell tent set up and take down
  • Arrivals and departures
  • Cleaning of facilities
  • Cleaning of bell tents
  • General maintenance around the campsite
  • Compost toilet waste disposal
  • Ensuring customers have an enjoyable stay
