Cost Control Accountant - Stevenage Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 + Bonus + Outstanding Benefits Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Are you a detail-driven finance professional looking to step into a pivotal role with strategic influence? My client is hiring a Cost Control Accountant to join a high-performing finance team at a leading organisation in Stevenage, where you'll play a central role in maintaining financial rigour and supporting senior leadership through planning and decision-making processes.

What You'll Do:

  • Act as a business partner to senior leaders, providing financial guidance, insight, and challenge to support cost control and resource planning.
  • Lead budgeting and planning activities across functional areas, ensuring accurate forecasting and financial alignment with strategic goals.
  • Deliver clear and insightful reporting on discretionary spend, compliance, and cost performance to operational and finance leadership.
  • Own the month-end close process for assigned areas, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  • Regularly challenge and reconcile balance sheet entries, helping maintain financial integrity and confidence in reporting.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that drive simplification, efficiency, and best practice within the finance function.
  • Present complex financial data in an accessible and engaging way to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across UK sites, with occasional travel as needed.
What You'll Bring:
    • Part or fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
    • Experience working in large, multi-national organisations.
    • Proven expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, and balance sheet reconciliations.
    • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with large data sets; SAP experience is a plus.
    • Excellent communication and business partnering skills, with the ability to influence and challenge stakeholders at all levels.
    • A continuous improvement mindset with a passion for process optimisation and simplification.
