Job description

Overview

Ipswich Borough Council is looking for a proactive and skilled Corporate Fraud Investigator to join our Internal Audit & Corporate Fraud team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in protecting public funds and resources across council services and partner organisations.

You’ll lead investigations into suspected fraud, theft, corruption, and other irregularities across a wide range of council services and partner authorities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations in line with appropriate legislation and best practice.
• Collaborate with external agencies such as the DWP, HMRC, Police, and UKBA.
• Develop and deliver fraud detection initiatives.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to strategic anti-fraud planning.
• Provide training and guidance on fraud prevention.

Qualifications

• Accredited Counter Fraud Specialist or minimum 3 years’ experience in a fraud investigation role.
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation including PACE, RIPA, Fraud Act, Bribery Act.
• Excellent communication, interviewing, and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage sensitive cases independently and professionally.

Working Arrangements & Requirements

• Hours of work are 37 per week, Monday to Friday.
• DBS clearance is required for this role.
• This is a hybrid working role (a minimum of 1 day per week working in the office).
