A leading energy trading company in the United Kingdom is seeking a Contract Manager to support trading activities by negotiating various contractual agreements, including EFETs, ISDAs, and NDAs. Candidates should have over 5 years of experience in contract management, particularly in the commodities trading or financial services sectors. Strong negotiation and communication skills are essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, making it possible to manage negotiations efficiently and maintain compliance with legal standards.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in contract management, legal operations, or compliance, preferably in commodities trading or financial services.
  • Experience of physical commodity and commodity derivatives contracts (e.g., EFET, ISDA).
  • Experience within the energy trading industry is preferred.
  • Good communication skills to discuss with senior management, in-house lawyers, and external advisers.
  • Demonstrates integrity and punctuality.

Job description

The Contract Manager is part of the Legal department and reports to the Global Head of Legal - LNG, Gas and Power. Supporting Gunvor's trading activities, the Contract Manager will be responsible for leading the negotiating process for a variety of contractual documentation, including EFETs, ISDAs, NDAs and Market Data Agreements.,

  • Negotiation of various energy Master Agreements for Gas, Power and financial trading (ISDAs, EFETs,
  • Master Netting Agreements) and other industry-specific or bespoke agreements with external counterparties in support of the energy business across the group.
  • Negotiate Non-Disclosure Agreements with counterparties globally.
  • Support Gunvor's Market Data team with review of relevant agreements.
  • Liaise with Legal, Credit, Tax, Front office and other internal stakeholders to conclude negotiations of agreements.
  • Work with Legal, Credit, Tax and Front office to analyze and understand new products and practices in connection with existing or new activities.
  • Perform due diligence and analysis of new master agreement documents and develop templates with the support of Legal, Credit and Tax as may be necessary.
  • Reviewing client provided documentation for content and conformity and providing comments.
  • Handle all aspects of document management including special terms, cancellations, novations, etc.
  • Identifying and addressing legal, financial and operation issues and seek advice from management and subject matter experts for complicated issues.
  • Proactively seek resolutions to blockages in any negotiation by defining and communication the outstanding issues arising from the negotiations with the appropriate person and where necessary the relevant business groups (front office/credit/compliance/tax/back office) to obtain a resolution.
  • Maintain knowledge of contracts standards and industry and regulatory initiatives.
  • Participate in the implementation of procedures and protocols for retention and maintenance of documentation and records.
    5+ years of experience in contract management, legal operations, or compliance, preferably in commodities trading or financial services
  • Experience of physical commodity and commodity derivatives contracts (e.g., EFET, ISDA)
  • Experience within the energy trading industry is preferred
  • Team player but also able to work independently
  • Good communication skills to be able to discuss with senior management, in-house lawyers, business counterparts and external advisers
  • Demonstrates integrity at all times
