Overview

We are seeking a full-time Associate Director for our Manchester transport planning team based in Manchester. We offer a challenging and rewarding career working for a leading consultancy with a strong presence in the North West. You will join a growing team delivering a wide variety of interesting projects for clients in both the private and public sectors. We are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements, including reduced hours, remote work, flexible start and finish times, or compressed hours, to support work / life balance.

Responsibilities
  • Lead work winning through established client contacts and develop a solid workload to support the development of a small team that will support and enhance the existing team in Manchester. This includes project management, technical support, staff management, and mentoring junior team members.
  • Manage individual projects, act as the main client contact, and supervise junior staff.
  • Demonstrate relevant technical and market knowledge and experience in working on projects for both private and public sectors across the North West.
Qualifications
  • Proven project management and business development skills, including proposal writing
  • Knowledge of the UK transport planning industry and planning system
  • Extensive experience in preparing Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Transport chapters for Environmental Statements, etc.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to undertake tasks with minimal supervision
  • Strong time management skills to meet project deadlines
  • Excellent presentation and spreadsheet skills
  • Experience in delivering technically challenging projects
  • Experience liaising with public and private sector clients
  • Understanding of current design guides such as Manual for Streets and DMRB
  • Knowledge of junction modelling software
  • Experience with Public Inquiry and Examination in Public is beneficial
  • Degree or Master's in a relevant field (e.g., transport planning, civil engineering, geography). Professional accreditation such as CMILT, TPP, MCIHT, or MICE is desirable.
