We are seeking a well-motivated and innovative Consultant Urologist to assist in the delivery of high-quality evidence-based Urology Clinical services while implementing innovative working practices in creating a high-performing multidisciplinary team.

Joining a team of Consultants and Specialist Doctors, you will share responsibility for the provision of care to our patients and support the development of Clinical Governance using audit findings to improve treatment quality and minimise clinical risk. Research is important to us, with partnerships with Cambridge as our Tertiary and Cancer Network Centre to develop rapid diagnostic pathways for cancer. We are committed to developing careers and will offer encouragement and support to pursue your own subspecialty within the department. A secretary and clerical staff will be provided to support daily clinical and administrative duties.

You must be on the General Medical Council Specialist Register, or within six months of admission to the Register for Trainees if in a Training Programme within the UK. In addition, you must be on the GMC Specialist Register, or within six months of achieving CCST.

Responsibilities

  • To promote the development of multi-disciplinary teams and shared responsibility for the provision of care to patients.
  • To support the development of clinical governance, using audit findings to improve the quality of treatment and minimise clinical risk.
  • To develop innovative working practices, and to support the growing clinical contribution of non-medical staff.
  • To supervise and manage junior medical staff.
  • To assist in the teaching and training programmes for junior medical staff and postgraduate medical education.
  • To work effectively within a team and communicate well with patients, general practitioners, and hospital colleagues.

Your focus will be on increased day-case and outpatient care with Urology Assessment and Treatment Centres at Stamford and Hinchingbrooke Hospitals.
