The upcoming implementation of our new patient record system, Epic, will further enhance our operations by consolidating reports and patient information, saving vital time for staff.
In Microbiology, you will have a unique opportunity to shape our service development. Following a £5m investment in a molecular facility, the department is working on a programme of repatriation to Ipswich Hospital. Additionally, the new £64m Essex and Suffolk Elective Orthopaedic Centre opening in Autumn 2024 will be one of Europe's largest of its kind, offering advanced microbiology opportunities in a modern setting.
We seek an experienced Consultant with FRCPath and PhD. If you are close to achieving these or have equivalent qualifications, we will consider your application. The role involves working across Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals.
You will collaborate with clinical, scientific, laboratory, and quality teams to support the Clinical lead in developing microbiology services and training junior staff as part of our succession planning. Your role is vital in delivering and expanding services for patient benefit and is central to our strategic planning over the next five years.
Responsibilities include participating in the duty microbiologist rota and providing a Consultant Clinical Advisory Service for diagnosis, investigation, and treatment guidance within the hospitals and primary care, including interpreting results and recommending further tests.
