Job Summary
Community CAMHS is a large mental health service within the Homerton Healthcare University Trust. We operate across the Children and Community Services Division and provide integrated pathways from early risk support to specialist mental health care for children and young people.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical and operational leadership to the CAMHS Disability Service and the wider Community CAMHS team.
- Line‑manage staff at band 8 pathway/locality lead and senior manager levels and support team structures.
- Manage the service budget, including approving invoices, overseeing timesheets and contributing to service‑level budget meetings.
- Coordinate day‑to‑day service operations, resolve clinical and operational issues independently and in consultation with the Head of Community CAMHS.
- Deliver clinical supervision to staff, ensuring effective supervision processes across pathways and service lines.
- Maintain robust CPD and training frameworks, ensuring staff meet registration and professional development requirements.
- Oversee the Single Point of Access (SPA) and SPA Alliance board, including referral meetings, clinical communication and risk management.
- Drive SPA and CAMHS Alliance goals, ensuring efficient decision making and referral pathways to key agencies.
- Monitor and manage wait‑time KPIs, ensuring effective demand and capacity management to meet service demand.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive data collection processes, producing accurate monthly and quarterly reporting.
- Deputise for the Head of Community CAMHS as required, engaging with senior management, commissioners and the strategic team.
- Promote high‑quality clinical work across all pathways (SPA, SCAC/NDT, WAMHS, ISP, First Steps, etc.) and ensure delivery of child‑ and family‑centred outcomes.
- Ensure systematic governance and supervision of multidisciplinary CAMHS staff, maintaining professional standards and trust policies.
- Manage staffing issues, performance queries, training, leave, complaints, FOI, and business continuity planning.
- Contribute to strategic service development, growth and reputation, and support policy implementation within the teams.
- Conduct audit, evaluation, service development and research to meet governance and Trust priorities.
Person Specification
- Essential Experience: Extensive NHS CAMHS clinical experience; leadership training and pathway leadership and evaluation skills; Doctorate‑level qualification in a psychological profession.
- Desirable: Supervision of psychological professionals; finance and service operational and clinical leadership; executive, ICB and senior management strategic skills.
