Job summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Consultant Hematologist to join our dynamic Hematology team. The post involves delivering high-quality clinical and laboratory hematology services, including the diagnosis and management of both malignant and non‑malignant blood disorders. The successful candidate will provide specialist outpatient and inpatient care, support safe transfusion practice, and contribute to MDT meetings for the management of hematological conditions.

You will work closely with colleagues across oncology, pathology, specialist nursing and pharmacy, and play an active role in teaching, service development, clinical governance, and research. This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward‑thinking department committed to delivering patient‑centred, evidence‑based care.

Main duties
  • Provide specialist inpatient and outpatient care for malignant and non‑malignant hematological conditions.
  • Lead and participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings for blood cancer and complex hematology cases.
  • Oversee and interpret laboratory hematology investigations, including blood films and bone marrow samples.
  • Support safe and effective transfusion practice and provide clinical advice on blood component use.
  • Participate in the delivery of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and other specialist treatments.
  • Contribute to service development, clinical governance, audit and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Teach and supervise junior medical staff, students and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in the on‑call rota for hematology services.
